A new Naruto anime centered on the original Team 7 members has been confirmed to feature a significant visual upgrade, according to an interview reported by CBR on Oct. 27, 2026.
Studio Pierrot producer Yoshihiko Tominaga told Crunchyroll that the series’ animation will feel "almost cinematic," citing character designs and fluid motion already visible in the released trailer.
Cinematic Visuals Confirmed
The four‑episode crossover will pair Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura with the martial‑arts manga Ninku, sending the trio into another world where they meet a frog‑faced boy named Fusuke; the story is set before volume 20 of the manga, prior to Tsunade’s appointment as Fifth Hokage.
Originally slated for a 2023 debut, the project was postponed to improve animation quality; it will be the first Naruto‑related animated release since Boruto entered an indefinite hiatus, with Masashi Kishimoto and Ninku creator Koji Kiriyama supervising.
Storyline and Timeline
The anime is part of Project Rasengan, a multi‑year initiative unveiled at New York Comic Con that also includes a new manga titled "Naruto Shadow Rising," a rumored film, a new trading‑card game and a global launch of the Naruto Mobile game.
